The Heat index was estimated to be around 117F so some of the painters went indoors. I must have acclimatized because it didn't seem that hot to me. But the iPhone never lies so it was. I will say that oil paint certainly operates differently at these temperatures, and forget about using OMS for an underpainting as it flashes off so quick you might as well just dry-brush or pile the paint on from the git-go.
Anyway, here are a few pictures of the quickdraw and the Saturday sale. I sold some more paintings today and last night's "Best New Artist Award qualifies me to paint in tomorrow's Sunday Brunch for the very posh families which live around here.

Steve Doherty, judge for this show and editor of Plein Air Magazine, gave a talk tonight explaining why he made the picks he made for the awards. Here he is 'splaining something about mine. I agreed with him for the most part, but hey, what do I know? (grin)
(My apologies for this poor photo, Steve. All I had on hand was the cell phone and I wanted to be unobtrusive as possible.)
So tomorrow I get up at 4:00 am (Eastern Time) and get myself together to drive down to the estate the brunch will be on. SECAM start painting at 6:00 am and I want to scout the place first so I find an interesting subject to paint.
G'Nite,
Thomas
