Thomas Jefferson Kitts is the juror of the 2012 Plein Air Paintout Competition, to be held September 5-7, 2012. You can check out Kitts' website here. You can check out his blog here. We are also planning to host a workshop taught by Kitts in May or June.
Thomas lives in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1984, after which he returned home to paint en plein air in the Pacific Northwest and California. (Picture of him left shows Thomas painting the Californian coastline somewhere south of Carmel.)
Thomas is an active member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, the California Art Club, the Oil Painters of America, and the American Impressionist Society. He travels extensively and maintains an active and distinguished exhibition history – one which includes the Laguna Art Museum, the Maritime Museum of Curacao, the Academy Museum of Easton, Oil Painters of America National & Regional Exhibitions, Arts for the Parks Top 100, and three New York Art Expos. Thomas has been commissioned by such prestigious entities as the Publix Corporation, the Mariott Corporation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, and the Kaiser-Permanente Collection. His work is collected throughout North America. For more information on Thomas Kitts, read his bio.
If you think you'd like to come down and paint, just sign up before August 7th. It's a good group down there and the scenery if fine. And I'd love to meet you in person!
Thomas

Also, if you are interested signing up my upcoming August 'Essential Plein Air Techniques' workshop, click here. There are only three spots left on a first-come, first serve basis, so don't delay if you want to join the fun! Learn to paint en plein air with a knowledgeable and respectful teacher. This class will be limited to 12 participants to guarantee quality one-on-one time with the instructor.
UPDATE: Because workshop sign-ups this year have been so quick I may offer a second outdoor class the following week, if there is enough interest. That will be decided after the first week closes.

Wednesday - Friday? Not very travel friendly! I'm always surprised to see dates like that.
Sorry, Jesse. I had nothing to do with the dates. I'm a hired gun, er, I mean jurist...
