Beautiful, are you experienced in watercolor too? Just seeing this makes me want to bring watercolors for a short Mexico trip, instead of lugging around my oil paint gear. I suppose I should try watercolors first though, and not get cocky! Just saying you inspire me.
No, I do not consider myself experienced in watercolor at all. In fact, I am finding it difficult to avoid painting with the media as if it were oil. But each attempt gets closer to something watercolor wants to do so I keep trying.
What a wonderful ride on my home turf, At about 5:08 you passed by where I live. And at around 7:41 or so you passed the seasonal swamp I love so much, a mini wildlife refuge of beaver, wood duck, mallard merganzer, herons, kingfisher, nutria, racoon muskrat, and so much more right at the roadside. This is my chance to thank you for the Best of Show you awared my painting ot thei place "Home of the Wood Duck" at the Yaquina River Museum Plein Air show. I am so honored as I've only been painting plein air for a few years and there were some amazing aritsts in the show. I am especailly grateful that you really "got" the reasons I painted it,. as you put it "for closley observed light both direct and indirect and capturing how the land and water merge in this area. I confess I tried many times to paint that place and failed before I got to the one in the show. Thank you it was greatt validation to have the award from a painter I admire so much.
BTW I hope this ride inspires other painters to come to the area to paint, or to enter the show. Its a little different format, you have 2 months window of time so you can paint at a time and place of your choosing anywhere in the Yaquina River watershed...I'm sure there will be details online at some point, The time frame is usually May to July.

Have a good trip.
